The geology of the area comprises adamellite to granodiorite, strongly-foliated granitoid rocks, including contact migmatites, and amphibolitic rocks with doleritic and epidote-rich pegmatitic intrusions.
The Desert Sunset banded jasper/chert/ironstone formation (BIF), which will be quarried for semi-precious stone, has a low iron content (<20%) though other areas along strike on the lease have a higher iron content where the jasper/chert bands are much smaller. There are three ridged of BIF material on the lease which vary from 10 m up to 40 m thick. Semi-precious stone mine: The four stone products comprise three stones of multi-coloured, banded jasper with banded ironstone (jaspilite) and a unique, pink/red quarts breccia derived from an asteroid impact crater.
